Penultimate World Cup lead up day!

Get ready mi amigos!  ESPN is ready to unleash a barrage of cutting edge technologies.
ESPN 3D launches as a new network on Friday with the first ever program being the opening game of the 2010 World Cup, South Africa vs Mexico at 6:30a PT! (for the 3D broadcast, call DirectTV and Comcast)

A new quiver of virtual graphics will blow your mind- imagine looking at a tie-dyed shirt though a kaleidoscope.

A SIXTEEN foot monitor on our host set will provide more eye-candy than Beckham and Posh Spice on the catwalk!

Our graphics team on the Libero system will warp your understanding of the time/space continuum like Lionel Messi on crack infused Red Bull.

REQUIRED VIEWING FOR ALL:
You MUST, without fail, tune in to watch the 'Tease' to our Show on Fri to experience U2 and the Soweto Gospel Choir.  The sounds, pictures, editing and emotion of this piece will move you beyond my lame explanation.   I even teared up a bit in the edit room - shhhh, don't tell the crew.  Should air about 6:30a PT. (if it's another time, I'll let ya know)

Throughout the tournament, we will unveil six U2/ Soweto Choir videos.  If these don't make my buddy Andy Nelson want to watch soccer, nothing else will!

Reminds me of a quote from an amazing book I just read, Little Bee by Chris Cleave (shout out to Leslie Katz for passing this great novel on to me).  When one of the main characters is commenting on international relations she reflects: "everyone loves U2, but not nobody likes anyone else".

well, this event is about bringing people together.  To give a deeper perspective, I again refer to SI:

The first sentence encapsulates the tone of the article:
Man United. More than the name of the world's most popular team, it's a description of the state of the planet beginning on June 11.
to be more PC ( and less sexist), I would rewrite it as 'Mankind United'.

Beginning Thursday at 7am PT, ESPN2 will begin 24 hours of soccer programming as lead-in to the opener.  In total, we will be broadcasting 250 hours of original programming over the entire month.
1. All 64 matches will be broadcast live.
2. In high definition.
3. On either ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.
Of those 64 matches, 52 will be simulcast online at ESPN360.com. Which means many many Americans with be able to either secretly or not so secretly watch games at work 100% legally and in high quality (although the service is only available via certain internet providers). The only games not simulcast on ESPN360.com will be those being screened on ABC only. In which case, all you need is a TV and some bunny ears.   (...hoppin through the forest...)

This dude is surely ready to root on his beloved El Tri. (that's the Mexico team in Int'l Soccer vernacular)

ya think I should tell him he's 2 days early?

Lance could easily win an 8th Tour on this rig, don't ya think?

This is never a good sign.

Someone else's problem is my entertainment!
Mwahahaha!

more quirky food:

I love getting out and experiencing new food, however, this one was a bit odd for me.  I could only consume half the bottle.  Back to good old fashioned water for me.
